Fashion crazes

Do not allow fashion crazes to spoil your health

One day, a government officer arrived at his office, all dressed up (in suit, boots, along with a tie). After a short time he started experiencing tinnitus (ringing sensation in the ears); and was sweating and nervous.

When he went to the doctor, the latter said: “You have some dental problem and you must undergo surgery.”

He underwent surgery. The next time he arrived at his office, the same problems recurred all over again. When he went to see the doctor again, it was suggested he undergo another round of surgery. He underwent many treatments and surgeries, but to no use. Finally, a board of (medical) specialists had a conference and after a full examination of the patient, they came to the conclusion that: “This ailment is incurable.”

He thought, ‘Because I have to die anyway, why don’t I fulfil all my desires of this life!’ The very first thing he did was go to a tailor to get a stylish suit (a set of tailored coat & pants).

The tailor, when measuring his neck, said – “The neck of your coat should be 16 inches.” To this, the officer said – “The neck of my older coat measures 15 inches; why are you increasing it by an inch?”

The tailor said: “Sir! Wearing a coat with a tight fit around the neck could cause problems like nervousness, uneasiness etc. Additionally, it could also cause tinnitus. But I can make your coat the same size as the older one if you so wish.”

The officer was astonished! He thought, ‘Now I realise it was the tight-necked coat which caused my problems.’

He immediately stopped wearing suits and started wearing Indian style clothes viz. Kurta-Payjama etc., and all his troubles vanished.

After undergoing many surgeries and medical treatments, and being diagnosed of an incurable disease in the conference of medical specialists, the officer realised and understood the root-cause of his troubles by listening to the tailor; but today, many people have become so enslaved to fashion that they continue to wear fashionable clothes, disregarding the health hazards.

Research has shown that the pressure created by tight clothes impedes blood-circulation; and as a result, one can’t breathe deeply enough, because of which the blood can’t flow to all parts of the body at its normal speed. Hence, even the excretory system of the body can’t work properly and the organs, by not receiving an adequate flow of blood, tend to grow weak. Because of tight jeans, blood circulation and the pumping of blood, to and from the heart is disturbed, which may lead to low blood pressure, followed by giddiness and even unconsciousness. Wearing clothes made of nylon, or other synthetic fabric results in skin diseases, because such fibres aren’t capable of absorbing sweat and thus body pores don’t get an adequate amount of fresh air.

India’s climate is tropical and subtropical; but in spite of that, aping the dressing style of colder countries and wearing unnecessary suits (coats & pants), ties and other tight clothes – is mere slavery of fashion?

We ought to wear simple, loose, cotton clothes that are decent, relaxing and fit for our climate, dignity and culture.

Don’t be blinded by fashion, sacrificing your health and money in the process. Use clothes that are coherent with Indian culture and thus preserve both your health and wealth.
