Auxiliary reflex centres
In case of cervical problems, apply pressure on the back of the neck too.
At first, apply pressure at the centre of the line joining the neck and the skull, from where the cervical spinal column begins (point 1 in picture no. 4) with your thumb three times for 5-7 seconds each as per the bearing capacity of the patient.
Then apply pressure three times for 5-7 seconds each on point numbers 2, 3, 4, 5,6 and 7 as shown in picture no.4.
Thereafter, apply pressure as shown in picture no.5 three times on point numbers 1-12 as illustrated in picture no. 4 upon both sides of the spinal column at about half an inch away from it.
The patient can apply pressure on these points with his own hands also as shown in picture no. 6. If he feels dizziness (vertigo) he should not apply pressure on any point on the neck.
Prevention of cervical pain:
Always sleep on a blanket spread on a hard bed (floor or a big table)
If you are working while looking down (like reading a book) take rest for 2-3 minutes intermittently, and do light exercise of the neck like raising the head and looking at the sky etc. You should use a thin cotton pillow.
Regular practice of postures like Bhujangasana, Brahma mudra and Shavasana helps in prevention of cervical spondylosis.
